Air21 kisses goodbye to KFC Phil. Cup

GARY David and Arwind Santos delivered their best game but the Air21 Express were eliminated by the San Miguel Beermen with an 86-105 decision Sunday evening in the last round of wildcard play in the PBA-KFC Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Express, who failed to duplicate their masterful domination on Purefoods last December 28,, 94-82, in first stage of wildcard series, finished the conference with an 8-10 mark in the elimination round and 1-1 record at the wildcard.
David nailed 31 points on perfect 12-of-12 attempts in the foul line, while Arwind Santos scattered 20 points and 11 rebounds and Don Allado had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Express.
The practice session of the Express is set to resume on February 1, 2009.
After a 25-23 lead in first quarter, the San Miguel Beermen controlled the game the rest of the way by taking as many as 18 points in the second half which they did not relinquish.
Lordy Tugade and Dondon Hontiveros finished with 18 points each for San Miguel Beer, which will face sister team Ginebra San Miguel Beer in the best-of-three quarterfinals.
The other quarterfinal pair is between the reigning champion Sta. Lucia Realtors and Rain or Shine.
Cyrus Baguio scored five points with three rebounds and two blocks, while Celino Cruz had a bad debut as he came up scoreless in 14 minutes. Jay-R Quiñahan swatted six enemy attempts mostly on Danny Seigle, with four points and seven rebounds for the Express.

“We lost to Ginebra in the Fiesta Conference finals but that was with imports,” said Alvarez. “Now, we’ve got the chance to beat Ginebra with an all-Filipino lineup so the guys are looking forward to that. Of course, we’re not looking beyond San Miguel.”
Last Fiesta Conference, it was Coach Bo. Now, it’s Mr. Alvarez.
Perhaps it would serve well for Air21 to stop counting chicks before the eggs hatch.

Release Egay, JC Intal, Adonis Sta. Maria and Cholo Villanueva… Nakakabadtrip yang si JC, kung kelan naghahabol ang air21, saka na naman nagkalat at tira ng tira ng jump shots na alam mong di papasok… nakakainis… Hindi ka nakakatulong sa rotation eh…
loaded sa wingmen and PG spots so release Egay(PG), Cholo(SG) and JC(SF)… Pati si Adonis or Kramer… itrade nyo silang dalawa to get Eman…
Sana naman wag na magpalit ng name ang team, pinagkakakitaan lang ng husto ang team sa ginagawa nila…
Maintain:
Coach Bo and Coach leo(Hire coach Yeng if possible)
SG- Cyrus and Gary
PG- Wynne, Celino and Marvin

That’s a total of 10 players, wag nyo na silang i-trade… These will be the core of the team or should i say sa air21 na sila magreretire(basta hndi magddsband ang team)… dagdagan niyo na lang kung may makukuha kayong rookies sa draft or trade those guys i’ve mentioned before… para hindi nagkakasapawan sa positions.
See you next conference Air21… i’m still your supporter kahit ganyan ginagawa ng management sa inyo… Sana lang consistency na next time sa offense and defense…

Aba…dapat ata ang title ng article na ito ay Air21 kisses goodbye to PBA…di lang sa KFC Phil Cup.
Dahil sa next conf ay Burger King na.Kahit nagbitaw na ng salita si Mr. Alvarez na 60% owned pa rin ng Lina Group of Companies ang Burger King eh…may mga partner ito dahil kasama si Manny Pangilinan at Mikee Romero dito. Kaya hindi po papasok ang Harbour Centre sa PBa kundi ang Air21/Burger King ang magiging vehicle ni Romero para sa pagpasok sa PBA of course with Mr. Lina, Alvarez, Pangilina atbp na stakeholders ng BK franchise.
So instead of being team owner ay tatayong team manager si Mike Romero to represent himself and Manny Pangilinan sa pagpapatakbo ng Air21/Burger King.Kaya naman may say na talaga si Mikee Romero sa basketball operations ng Burger King.Kaya lahat ng trades at changes sa team ay nasa kamay nya.Si Alvarez naman will represent Mr. Lina and himself sa bball operations, pero mukhang galamay ni Pangilina via Romero ang talagang magpapatakbo ng bball operations ng Burger King.
Hence…the Ranidel de Ocampo conspiracy theory…sister team na talaga ang TnT at Burger King…SMB group and Manny Pangilinan group na anag labanan sa PBA…maraming conspiracy theories sa PBA gaya ng nabangit ni Young Don…lalo na sa SMC corp teams…may not be 100% true but 95% siguro.
Now with the entry of Burger King and the Panagilinan tentacles in the team eh di naman papayag na maging kulelat ang team kaya with fresh money infused by MVP and Romero ay tyak naman kailanagan may pagdatingan ang Burger King sa PBA…and I think may pag asa mag champion yan kasi core naman ng Air21 will stay but sempre may mga bata si Mikee Romero na gusto ilagay sa team, kahit nga ang coaching staff ay pinagiisipan na palitan o dagdagan ni Romero…there is talk that he does not like Coaching Style of Bo Perasol…well prerogative nya yan since team manager sya…Si BACULI ba ang malakas bumulong kay Mikee..lately ay napagkikikita na sya sa Araneta watching Air21 games…so si Hitler na ang coach?Si Baculi matagal nang atat sa PBa mag coach pero there are better coaches that the MVP/Lina/Romero group can buy…why not Norman Black…kung si Baculi ipapasok eh idagdag lang sya…or at least ilagay lang muna sya sa staff at wag na muna alugin ang core ng team lalo na ang present coaching staff ay nakapag paabot naman sa team sa nakaraang Fiesta Conf.
Tyak namumutakti na anag mga nais bumulong kay Mikee Romero at nangunguna na dyan ang dating Air21 Asst. na si Allan Gregorio….going to the Gregorio Conspiracy…eto yan. He was relegated to the PBL handling Burger King kasi madami players ayaw sa kanya and because di rin bilib sa coaching abilities nya…kaya pampalubag loob ay sa PBL sya itinapon…now PBA na ang Burgher King ay papasok na ang Gregorio Conspiracy…knowing the family lineage of the Gregorios eh limelight hungry yang mga yan..kaya magpupumilit makabalik sa PBA yan with Burger King via his brother Patrick. Bakit papasok si brother Patrick? He is the Sports Marketing mgr of Smart Communication of Pangilinan at nagkasama sila sa pagpapatakbo ng SBP under Pangilinan. Malakas magbulong yan si patrick kay MVP kaya that would be the vehicle to be used by Allan G for him to go back to the PBA…a lot of players will not be happy if this happens…makinig ka Mikee,Lito A. at MVP.
Keep the coaching staff, if you want palitan ang head coach just relegate Bo Perasol as asst. team manager..o baka naman kay Eric Arejola ibibigay ito or at least bigyan pa rin pwesto si Perasol dahil sa loyalty nya sa mga Lina.magdagdag na lang ng additional coach …yun nga si Baculi pero para sa akin hindi Head Coach material yan si Baculi.Wag na si Yeng Guiao…let him focus on the National Team at sa political career nya…Red Bull is not BK and vice versa.
Sa players since off season expect trades pa dyan. Magpapalakas ng team si Mikee di papayag na ganun na lang ang comp[osition ng team…players ang unang magagalaw dyan.Baka itong sila Intal at Canaleta na ang mailipat ng team. Si Cyrus can be a trade bait din. I expect na mawala na sila Billones, Sta. Maria(wait baka di ito kasi may DLSU connection ito) and since malapit na pumasok sa PBa si Meirhoffer ay kukunin yan ni Romero…since maraming 1st rd ang team sa next draft. Si arboleda ay pwede na rin isama sa coaching staff pero he has to learn na di porke son in law sya ni Lina ay he will be the Law in the team…matuto dapat sya magpakumbaba lalo na kung tapos na ang playing career nya. kung ayaw pa nya eh di lumipat muna sya sa ibang team to provena kaya nya mag grow outside the protective womb of the LIna’s.
Mawawala si David kung mag stay si Cyrus or tanmdem sila with Intal and Canaleta being shipped out for a legitimate bigman. sobra na guards since si Celino Cruz at Marvin Cruz nanyan. mahirap yung masyadong madami sa spot na yan. Atboleda, Billones, Cruz,M.Cruz, Villanueva(DLSU connection ito kaya malamang stay ito) Billones ang delikado dito.

Cguro I think the problem here is the coaching staff. Ok naman ung line up malakas and mabibilis ung wingman and with long arms pa at madami din scorer.

ok na sana ako eh when we got Skyrus(Cyrus) kasi nadagdagan ang weapons natin but after seeing the game medyo di ko na maintindihan…
marami nga tayong weapons eh ba’t mahina parin? because of what? sa tingin ko DISCIPLINE!wala kasing discipline ang team, wala rin masyadong self-discipline at walang tamang mindset…
air21 is a star studded team(David, Cañaleta, Baguio, Santos, Allado etc.) pero bakit tayo natatalo? eh all star narin atah tayo kagaya ng SMB eh pero bat mas magaling sila?
all of us believe that Mr. Pure Energy Gary David is Air21’s “Ace Player”, yes true enough because he can score almost at will… pero may kahinaan sya na ako lng yata ang nakakapansin at alam kong magagalit kayo…
sabihin ko?
“COZ SOMETIMES HE PLAYS ALONE” na parang siya lang ang kayang umiscore para sa Air21… he has this big tendency to force the issue just to score… eh may apat pa kaya na tao na tumutulong sa kanya…
air21 has to learn not to solely rely on David dahil marami naman talaga tayong options eh, andyan si Santos at pati si Cañaleta na sobrang konti nlng ng playing time and KG really deserves some time on the court…
c’mon guyz nasan na yung spirit nyo last conference? papayag ba kayo na sabihin nilang tsumamba tayo noon dahil na sa atin si STEVE?
all the team needs is a good mindset, a mindset na hindi nila makakalimutan…

No offense to others. .lyk Adonis and kramer (kasi they cant play solid sa inside that cause no rebounds), jc intal (dapat kc slasher cya kaso tira cya ng tira walang disciplina). . . C egay At si cholo villanueva kasi loaded na position for them..

Trade well na ‘lyk’ trade either adonis or kramer or both for another bigman that is scorer inside total may blocker na tayo. . Basta need nyo inside threat lyk ranidel pero ung matangkad at can rebound well at solid,Maybe eman f he will develop..

And dont rely on just 1 lyk in last game! Naawa kasi ako sa idol kong si gary. . . He play so well pero ano? Wala nag step up” or back up man lang.. At kasi play as a team walang sugapa. . .

Guiao to call the shots for Burger King

National coach Yeng Guiao, who recently resigned as Red Bull mentor, has accepted a two-year contract to coach Burger King which takes over from Air21 in the pro league effective Jan. 15.
“In principle, it’s done. I have reached an agreement with Mr. Mikee Romero representing the Burger King group,” Guiao told The STAR. “We’re just finalizing the small details like the people I’m bringing to the team.”
Guiao said the team is reorganizing as Air21 transfers the franchise to Burger King.
“I’m bringing in coach Rhoel Nadurata while Mikee is bringing in his Harbour Center coaches Jorge Gallent, Ryan Dy and Junel Baculi. The core of the Air21 lineup remains,” said Guiao.
Guiao said Baculi will be the team manager while Nadurata, Gallent and Dy will be members of his coaching staff. He couldn’t bring along Gee Abanilla as he has a live contract with Red Bull.
The national coach is excited to work with the players he’s handling in his new team – his fourth after Swift Mighty Meaty, Pepsi and Red Bull.
“Air21 is a winning team. It has good materials. We’ll just try to develop the ability to win big games,” said Guiao of the team which has a core group led by Arwind Santos, Gary David, Wynne Arboleda, KG Canaleta.
The Express gained their first finals appearance in the league in the recent Fiesta Conference but failed to make it past the wildcard round of the ongoing Philippine Cup.
Romero, owner of the PBL multi-titled team Harbour Centre, will be the team’s representative to the league board.
“The Lina Group is the majority owner of Burger King. I would come in as a minority shareholder for now. But once expansion goes full steam, I’ll pump in more money and help run the team in the coming season,” said Romero. – Nelson Beltran

Hello guys! Napadaan uli ako coz of the news I’ve read that Yeng Guiao will be the next coach of Air21/BK and that Air21 will officially cease to exist this year and will be officially known as BK next conference. Well, for me this will be a good opportunity for me to realign again my commitment and support to a new team. Kahit na under the Lina group of companies pa rin sila and with the intrusion of MVP who is a shareholder of BK but a TnT supporter, eh okay na rin sa akin na suportahan uli sila dahil sila pa rin ang dating mga players ng Air21. Kasi I really don’t like to support any other team in the PBA because hindi ko talaga gusto sila. Ang gusto ko kasi eh bago or independent team lang sa PBA na gaya dati ng Tanduay at FedEx/Air21 kaya iniisip ko na lang na bago uli silang team with Mikee Romero as one of the owner and supporter. Besides they are still made up of players from the former Air21 team kaya okay na rin na sumuporta uli ako sa kanila. Kaya lang ang gusto ko sana eh sana hindi na makikialam si Mr. Pangilinan sa team and that sana hindi niya gagawing palabigasan lang ang BK. Dito na talaga ako maiinis and if that happens talagang bibitiwan ko na ang pagsuporta sa kanila. Kasi I really don’t like this team na ginagawa lang palabigasan ng iba!
And regarding their present lineup… I’m really expecting another big trade coming! With their existing lineup I’m sure they are going to get rid of some players and trade them for other players. Hindi mahirap mangyari ito because of the excess number of players in some positions. Ang wish ko lang eh sana hindi yung mga mainstays ng team ang ma-itrade like Arwind Santos and Gary David. The others eh okay lang sa akin na ma-itrade basta ang kapalit nila eh yung gustong gusto natin na makuha sa team and that is a tall and dominant big man or center. Para sa akin, if ever they are planning to enter into a trade, eh sana big man ang kunin nila and for me Samigue Eman will be a great addition to the team. Hindi naman siya ginagamit ng San Miguel. So I’m relly expecting another big trade coming because of the present composition of the team.
And regarding the coming draft… I guess we got the first round pick of Red Bull this year in the Gabby Espinas trade, so sana they can make use of this pick to acquire a good and reliable big man. If Japeth Aguilar will be available, sana they will be able to get him or if not sana they can use this pick to enter into a trade to acquire a decent big man. I guess this is the only missing link now in the team. They lost Ranidel but if they will be able to get an able big man to replace him, then okay na sa akin ang lineup nila at ang pagkawala ni Ranidel.
Sa mga naiwang supporters ng Air21, at sa mga dating supporters na kapareho ko na nagalit sa management sa ginawa nilang mga trades, I hope you can welcome me back again in your group and I just pray na hindi na uli sasama ang loob natin. I hope the new management of the team will think well of their actions and sana everything they do should be only for the good of the team. I also pray that Coach Yeng Guiao will be able to lead and change the fortune of the team and sana manalo na rin sila ng championship. Lastly para kay Coach Bo Perasol, I pray and hope he will still be with the team in recognition for what he has done and accomplished for the team and sana hindi naman siya tanggalin ng basta basta. Kahit assistant coach lang eh sana ibigay na lang ito sa kanya.

young don… I’m happy to know that hindi lang pala ako ang nag-aasam na makuha si Samigue Eman. Bukod sa malaki na yung mama, may galaw pa siya in contrast to Yancy de Ocampo before, kaya I really like na makuha siya ng team to complete the need of the team as regards to a big man. Hindi naman siya ginagamit ng San Miguel kaya rather than maburo lang ang career niya, sana makuha na lang natin siya para magkaroon na tayo ng big man. Kawawa naman yung tao na nababangko lang.
But if Japeth Aguilar will make himself available this coming draft coz it seems mag-graduate na siya this april, then sana makuha natin siya using the draft pick we got from Red Bull para magkaroon na tayo ng big man. This will be a good opportunity for us to collar a big man during the draft. Pero kung walang available big man, para sa akin sana si Eman na lang ang pagsikapan nilang kunin para magkaroon na tayo ng big man.
Huwag magalit ang ibang fans, pero para sa akin, if they can trade KG for Eman eh okay na sa akin ito. Kung gusto nila eh pwede rin na si Allado ang ipalit. Eman kasi has more years ahead of him than Allado who is definitely now in the twilight of his career. Pero definitely for me, no trade should materialize if it involves Gary David or Arwind Santos. Nainis ako noon ng inalis nila ang isa sa tatlong haligi ng team, kaya they should not commit another more stupid mistake this time otherwise lalayasan ko na talaga sila. It is not nice talaga supporting a team na nakikita mo na instead magpalakas eh nagbabawas pa ng player. That is precisely the reason why Coach Yeng Guiao decided to leave the Barakos coz feeling niya inabandona na siya ng kanyang team manager when they traded all his reliable players.
